We're on a mission to stop people wincing when they here the word "Jazz"!
Today, jazz crosses so many genres so EVERYONE YOUNG AND OLD can enjoy it.
The classical sounds of Dave Brubeck; Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea's & Snarky Puppy's jazz/rock fusion; BeBop from Coltrane & Davis and the new Afrobeat/HipHop sounds of New Jazz coming fresh from music schools all focus on one thing....the production and performance of really exciting, improvised live music.
We want East London & Essex to showcase this musical diversity, to represent the creative and entrepreneurial nature of this side of the capital and give everyone entertaining opportunities to enjoy this exciting music
We respect taste and encourage choice.
And yep, Jazz is not for everyone and not everyone's for jazz.
But we're determined to work with venues, musicians and producers and community leaders to get young and old, girl and guy, multi-racial audiences to witness how this music can build communities, neighbourhoods and create bridges into new cultures through the excitiment of jazz
As much as we love City Centres, we love local towns and neighbourhoods even more!
We aim to bring opportunities and support to local people keen to watch, listen , compose, produce and perform jazz.
We work with schools, colleges, universities and to invite local audiences from all cultures and neighbourhoods to get involved.
Jazz in The City is fab.......Jazz Locally?.........AMAZING!
We work with some exciting new and well established small and independent venues to encourage them to host some of our rather cool jazz gigs
We work with festival producers and property folk to curate exciting jazz content in all its forms at indoor and outdoor festivals......oh, and not forgetting our own JAZZEAST...The London East Jazz Network Festival!
We work with volunteers, students, educators and those looking to work in the music business to work on live music events to deliver real, hands-on work experience
We're hugely proud to be currently working in partnership with East London Radio (ELR) to push the incredible sounds of jazz out across the airwaves of East London and beyond!
An exciting one hour radio show hosted by our founder and totally addicted jazz nut, Mark Kass, ELR regularly repeats our shows and encourages downloads to listen at your own leisure!
