Jazz East is the UK's newest one day indoor music festival brought to you by The London East Jazz Network, East London &Essex's leading jazz promotion agency.
As jazz and improvised music re-makes its mark on the music world across the Capital, Jazz East showcases this incredible music & culture with some of the UK's award winning rising stars alongside local talent and ones-to-watch in the future.
Jazz isn't just old, noisy , made-up or doobiedoobiedoo music....it crosses blues, afrobeat, classical, hip hop, house, R'nB, rock, funk and folk music so we've curated a mix of live musical performances that will interest, excite and re-imagine new and existing audiences that love watching good music created from the heart of its performers and composers.
This is our first year and we're super-proud to be hosting Jazz East at the uber-cool Leytonstone Ballroom, in Leytonstone, East London. Perfectly located for late -night transport and in the London Borough of Waltham Forest, London's Borough of Culture for 2019, we're determined to show the rest of London and the UK what a powerhouse in new music East London and Essex really is....and we want YOU to be part of history and our exciting jazz story!

ALEKSANDRA TOPCZEWSKA'S LEADING UK WOMENS JAZZ ENSEMBLE FROM THE AWARD WINNING TOMORROW'S WARRIORS
Sax improv guru Dee Byrne will be premieriing an edgy mix of acoustic and electronic improvised music demo-ing her versatility as one of the UK's foremost jazz musicians whilst showing off how Adolphe Sax's 19th Century woodwind horn can be coaxed into sounds using 21st Century tech
Noga Ritter and Fabienne Ambuel's exciting piano and voice blends, meld mountain calm, funky african rythyms and Middle Eastern romantics from Israel, Senegal and Switzerland to create an intimate yet surprisingly groove-laden jazz sound.

We're really pleased to announce that we've secured a great new second stage at the Leytonstone Ballroom for our Community Free Stage and we're keen to work with local jazz performers and those trying out new stuff such as solo acts, instrument workshops, new material and anything jazz-like that will help both the artist improve their game and help introduce jazz to new audiences!
We'll want to see and hear what you can do. so make sure you have a video we can watch and some sound files we can listen to.
Without wishing to be too prescritptive, your act must be improvised, self-penned, interpretive, innovative and above all extremely exciting to get a coveted slot of around 20 minutes on the acoustic/semi-acoustic Community Free Stage.

The London Borough of Waltham Forest is the Mayor of London's first Borough of Culture for 2019 so we've chosen Leytonstone as our home to Jazz East.
Holding JazzEast in a respectfully restored, historic and tastefully regenerated heritage ballroom, we aim to combine physical regeneration with our vision to deliver measurable and sustainable local social & economic impact.
We take prode in investing in the delivery of a free-to-access local community engagement programme from any profits we may derive from the Jazz East festival.
